Eufaula 4/15-16 - 04/13/22 03:35 PM

Anyone been lately? Going this weekend and wondered what everything looked like there. I see the water is at full pool, which is unusual for me. Seems they drop the water every time we go.... Shad spawn happening? Water cold and muddy?

Last time I fished down there was seven years ago at this time of year. Shad spawn in back of the creeks and shallow bays around the vegetation was dynamite. White jig, white trailer. Cast in the edge and reel like a sumbitch. They smoked it.

Didn't see the big gator in the Witch's Ditch, though. She grew every time I was down there. Must be 40-50 feet long by now. grin

I haven’t fished it in a couple months but cross the creeks and causeway several times a day and I can tell you it is still fairly muddy. Good luck.

Fish it every week. Shad spawn has been good on south end. Catching fish in 2 foot or less on swim jig, lizards and a bit of top water.

Well...... Not sure what was going on with the lake, but the fishing was BRUTAL. It only took 17 lbs to win out of 100 boats. Half the field zeroed on both the boater side and no-boater side. I finished in the top 20 with (2) fish. I wasn't even going to weigh them, but my partner made me. Glad I did now.

My partner threw a swimjig all day. He had a ton of blowups, but not takers. I hit (2) in the head with a flipping stick behind him. It shouldn't have been that hard on a lake that good with water temps that high. Temps ranged from 67-72. Water did rise a foot while we were there. We fished shallow grass up river all day. Not sure what the winner did.

Yes it was BRUTAL...My son and I fished it this weekend in our small club. We manged to put 4 fish in the boat in two days and only 2 of those were keepers. We finished 5th with two bass weighing a whopping four pounds.

Everyone we talked to said the same thing. We ran into several good fishermen that had only a keeper or two for the week. Never seen anything like it. I had two bites in two days. That's it.

It is but you have to find’em. I’m taking off Friday and gonna run way up river(if you know, you know). The bite is hotter up there at least it is for me now. I saw a decent shad spawn up river last week but that’s just a bonus. There’s a lot of ways to catch them right now.

We were up river all weekend. There was a shad spawn, but nothing was blowing them up. It was weird. Guess we should have gone above Riverbend.

We caught them in back of the bend at the Saw dust pile and around the corner in Shell creek.

Never been in Shell Creek. Plan on taking my jon boat down there this summer and exploring some backwater areas that we didn't get to.

Going up river it is the next creek past RB. I usually stop fishing that far North around mid may becasue once it gets really hit the bigger fish pull out since it’s really shallow. The way the weather is right now it may last a little longer. I plan to hit the back of RB around cypress trees this weekend if the water is right. That area is either hot or dead. I rarely see an in between.
