Carpet! - 02/21/18 02:20 AM
Finally getting around to doing the job that I was originally going to do, before I stipped my boat down to the bare hull. Got the first piece of carpet glued in this evening! Charcoal grey in a white boat and new Charcoal grey Xpress decals and registration #'s for the hull. I think it's gonna look sharp when it's done. The next time I post a picture, it will be of the finished boat....

Want to do another one after a short rest?

Nawwwwwww. Thanks though.
If you'd seen what I did after I decided to recarpet mine, you might not want me to start on it. LOL

Good color choice and combo of lettering.
I believe you will be really pleased!
Looking forward to seeing the finished results!
God Bless,

Looks good! I hate carpeting a boat!
She's gonna be too purty to fish out of
Nice job, Fur. Maybe you can start doing several on the side too!

When you get done I have boat that needs a deck extension.

I’d be scared to say “I need a deck extension” out loud. Someone could easily mishear that.

I think you should have a raffle. Winner gets to be the first one to smear it with catfish slime. Second place would get shad scales.

I wanna mash about a half dozen dinners in that new carpet

Dinners, minners, you can mash what you want to in it, because we ARE going fishing when I get her done. At the rate I'm going, it might be 2021.
I've worked on the dad gum carpet for the past 3 days for 2 hours every day after we closed the shop, and I still like another evening. This boat, the way the rod locker is made, has made it very hard to put carpet in, or at least very slow. The rod locker starts under the front deck and runs all the way back to the back deck. No gaps. The original carpet was done in 3 pieces and that's the way I've done this. I wanted to do the bottom floor of the boat last. That way I would hopefully not get any glue on it. Got the rear deck done Tuesday, the front deck last night and started in the gap in the middle with the rod locker top tonight. The seam where the carpet meets the carpet was a pain in the rear and I had to do that at the front deck and the rear. Being a perfectionist is fine, but it's time consuming....

One more hour and the boat will have carpet in it. I got the floor laid today and worked myself into the side and I'll have to get back into the boat to finish cutting and gluing the carpet in.
I've got to build 2 hatch lids and carpet them, then I'll be putting her back together. I'm glad to see this process finally winding down. I'm ready to go fishing.

If I hadn't spent somewhere just under half a million dollars on this used boat I would have hired it done too.
But then again, if I could make an extra $1200......
Was that materials and labor?
