Kayak electric motor upgrade

Kayak electric motor upgrade - 09/04/17 10:16 AM

Decided to upgrade my Malibu Stealth with a Minn Kota Endura 45 variable speed trolling motor. Used an aluminum mount made by Kevin Dismuke from the Dallas TX area. I also added a stadium seat from Dicks

This the mount

added a 360 degree nav light to the top of the motor shaft.

Mounted the controls on an Xwing console I already had.

Nice job! Besides the nav lights, don't forget you have to have boat registration, now, too.

Still gonna use the foot pegs to steer?

Ive already been to tag office to ask about registration, got to go back and fill out pspers.

I'm using the rudder pedals to steer. Used weedeater line after seeing it used in some other builds but it has too much stretch. Ive ordered some 1000 lb kevlar line to try instead of biting the bullet on SS cable.

I'd just use 250 or 300 lb surflon(nylon coated 7 strand stainless steel leader)
