Big Tuna - 06/15/16 10:41 PM

Had a blast fishing offshore in the gulf the past couple of days. We limited out on good sized red snapper. Also caught Wahoo, King Mackerel, black fin tuna a good number of yellow fin and one huge yellow fin that I started the show with but that we took turns fighting. Took us 2 hours and 45 minutes to land him. 214 lbs.

That fish would only fetch about $1500-$2000 at market. Also illegal since he doesn't have a commercial license, but I know what you're saying.

Nice fish OP!

We were on the Emerald Spirit with Captain George Pfiefer out of Orange Beach. We were about 100 miles out. It was an overnight trip. That fish hit a live bait fished on a kite rig at about 5:15 am. I fought him first but we took turns as he was seriously kicking our ass. LOL! Finally pulled him on board at 8:00 am. Strong fish! Got him up close enough to see color 4 times and he would just roll dive and strip line all the way to the backing on the reel. Fun but tiring. First time I have needed a beer by 8am since I was in college. LOL!

I caught a 68 lb yellowfin out of Venice once using essentially a big bass rod. I can't imagine one this size. Congrats on a great catch. Was it rough? Sea looks a little rough in the pic.

Really nice fish! Most of your large yellowfin in our area average about 160lbs. (way over average)

Bluefin tuna is the one that fetches such a premium in Japan.
