Grapefruit Tree Root System - 10/13/19 09:12 PM

Is it shallow or deep? I'm in the process of cutting one down that's past it's prime. The main tree is 6-8 inches thick. Can it be dug out or do I need to hire someone with stump grinder?

Should pop up fairly easily. I don't know what the wood would be like, but if you could save the mail piece someone one here might use it for wood working.

The roots of a citrus tree may or may not contain a taproot, but most do. ... The majority of the system is made of woody, fibrous horizontal roots with hairy feeder roots branching off of them. Most tree roots are located in the top 6 to 24 inches of soil.
