It's a good time if you hit the right areas. Good luck!

When you come into Chuckfee, there is a channel off to the west side of the bay. Work your way past the camps and you'll see a creek come in. Go on up past that creek and you'll see that second channel/creek that I'm talkng about. It basically runs parallel to the main bay in a half moon semi-circle all the way up until it intersects with some other creeks on the very north end of the bay. Look at it on a map and you'll see what I'm talking about. When I used to tournament fish over there and was on the water there a good bit, I used to always hear and see hogs working my way up that channel described above. It's in between Chuckfee Bay and 12 mile Island. It's only about 500 yds of woods/marsh between that channel I'm talking about and the Mobile River where it splits around 12 Mile. Kinda forms a pinch point. There will be hogs there at some point during the day.

You can also run north up Tensaw out of Byrnes. Go past the railroad crossing and you'll see what we call the gas line canal over on the west side. Unless it is backed up and full of logs which happens sometimes, you can run it all the way across the delta over to Bayou Sara in Saraland. It's only about 20 yards wide in most places and you can idle down it and really cover some ground. I've seen and heard a pile in there too. You'll just need to be careful about making sure you're on open land. There used to be some private pockets in there and I'm not sure that forever wild got them all cleared out when they bought it and turned it into the mgmt area. Map should tell.

No problem. Best of luck to you. It's been about 10 Years since I was on the water over there and a lot can change, but when I lived in Mobile, I was on the south end of the Delta at least every other week for almost 15 yrs. I always saw and heard hogs when I was in those areas. Keep us posted on how you do.

If you leave the boat down there you had better have your heart right. LOL. That is a rough spot especially for someone who has never been in a true swamp.

Yep. There plenty of places around there you can walk around a lot easier than that. Just have to put In a little leg work to locate em. My favorite way is to find a stretch of back and get out about every 100 yards and walk in a little bit to see any sign. They love to walk the banks but most are to thick to shoot from boat. I’ve never killed one from a boat and know the laws that go with it. Once you find fresh sign I like to sit up on that spot.

Glad y'all had a good time down there. It's a unique area. What areas did you end up spending most of your time in? Where'd you find the pigs at and get your shots?

Our success was on the raft river. We tried to get to Chuckfee Bay but it was so shallow and full of vegetation (forgot that they were called).

Once it warms up just a little bit, you can smoke them in Chuckfee on a white 1/4 oz hydrilla gorilla buzzbait.
