Jake Peavy is leasing up everything he can get his hands on in that area! Doesn't hurt to look, good luck!

Have seen the 344 acres in Magnolia on craigslist?
The land you'll lost to Peavy, did the landowner even give you'll a shot at his price?

Yeah but it didn't mattter. Can't compete with that kind of money. But to clarify this problem was started by a few disgruntled members. They went to the landowner & tried to lease the property from under the club..Then the word got around.

I'm kidding, he didn't say it like that, but don't be surprised if he ends up with more land! We would all do the same! Good guy, and can't blame him!

Send him to try and buy out Claude Strother. His money won't impress him I don't imagine. Claude has some of that OLD, moldy money. Family got it back when God first passed it out.

Mr Claude's mother (or aunt, I disremember) was subpoena'd to federal court when the Govt was trying to force the family to sell some land on the river to put a boat landing, bridge, park or some other project in. She had to be carried from the courtroom (allegedly) after answering a question from the judge that she considered flippant.

Her answer? "Sir, we are STROTHER'S, we don't SELL land, we BUY land". Keep in mind I wasn't there, this story was related to me by someone who said they were though. May be fiction, may not.

Jake is friends with Claude, don't think he is after the Strother place! A few dollars between those two! They both have really nice places! There have been a lot of first bucks taken off of them!

Just don't mess with little Allen's place. He'll freak out.

Re: Yes it's a long shot - 07/09/15 09:52 PM

He owns roughly 5k acres now. If he wanted some more land he would buy it. Don't fool yourselves thinking he can't buy any piece in that area that he wants.

Honestly if i was him I would've bought the sedgefield Plantation..

Re: Yes it's a long shot - 07/10/15 05:26 PM

I've heard that Sedgefield would cost around 25 million. Not too bad for 8k acres. Lamar Harrison is the one I though would've bought it

Is Sedgefield for sale now?

Dang. My wife and cousins inherited 297 acres in that area. If you know of someone willing to spend a mill for that, send them my way and I can set up a meeting.

Was the Sedgefield tract once part of the Maytag tract? We were up there this week and nobody in our party knew.

Re: Yes it's a long shot - 07/10/15 09:39 PM

Yes, Sedgefield union springs was once owned by maytag. It had been sold off into pieces but the current owner has put most of the original Maytag holdings back together in the last several years. However, I thought they were referring to the sedgefield owned by Hinton in Dallas county and did not know that was for sale.

Re: Yes it's a long shot - 07/10/15 11:01 PM

If Sedgefield in Dallas County is for sale I bet Peavey or one of the Drummonds Brothers buys it. All are working hard to develop their properties into what they envision as a paradise. Get Sedgefield and it is a ready made paradise. I used to love riding the field trials gallery there just to see a beautiful place.

He could dang sure afford lol..

Re: Yes it's a long shot - 07/11/15 04:26 AM

I'm talking about the Hinton Tract just south of Safford. I've HEARD it was for sale before but I'm not sure how true it is. Our club borders it and it is amazing. I love to ride through there during hunting season and look at the deer. It's unbelievable how many deer are on that place and some Giants. Lamar is probably one of the richest people in that area so I'm sure if it was for sale he would've bought it. He owns roughly 8K acres that borders it also. At least that's how much I've been told.

David , I'm with you , it can be bought , everything there can be bought! Allen may not sell but those that think Peavey can't afford it are sadly mistaken! Can't wait to see the finished ball fields at Morgan!
