Sitting on a big powerline. Supposed to be rut here typically but nobody seeing any signs of that it don’t seem like
I saw a big 8 and two smaller 6’s chasing in Madison Co yesterday. Thought they were pestering her but eventually that big 8 mounted her. All 3 bucks tarsals were black as could be too. Not sure how that correlates down the road your way but it’s on up here. Good luck folks, about to hop in the climber and see what comes thru.
Wind driving me nuts - n past i could hunt most days - maybe 2 days a month i get light n variable and could not hunt. This year - maybe 2 days a month are not lite n variable - the exact opposite.
Debating going to big field i aint hunted it n about 3 1/2 weeks. Primed for a big deer - no camera - no pressure - awesome spot - but Last time i hunted - got a switcher and snorts. Wind dead n my face if it stays sw so i may can get away w it - out to my right r left will not hurt me likely
Wondering if i will get a good huntable/steady wind to hunt big field all year - seriously!!! Since i aint magic - i cant beat a switcher
I’m here. Feels good to be back in the woods! Set up on a small food plot. Looks like hogs have been rooting it up. First time I’ve hunted since thanksgiving. Worried about this variable wind. We shall see.
Well - i was smart enough to know bettr but i did it anyway!! Dang it man! They smelt me late - wind switched! If u asked me what i did today - i could say - well - i was an idiot for believing this new scent would work and that the wind might not blow n a complete circle when it says light and variable on forecast. I hav only tried 832 scents over the years w absolute failure on all of em - yea - lets give one more a shot ya idiot!!
That destroys an area to me - i can promise u this - i will never hunt another field on a light n variable! Deer season aint n for me - cause i get this everyday - this aint fun - this is unwinnable. I will sit my fat butt at house until get good wind and if that never happens - i will not hunt Man i hate being stupid !!
I may hunt a road r crossing but no field
Good luck boys - i may b eating tag sandwich - dealt with this since muzzleloader
I just knew this evening would suck so decided not to go till last minute. Of course it was the best hunt I've been on this year. Ended up with 5 bucks chasing one doe from 3:30 till dark. Biggest was a tall racked but narrow 3yr old 8pt. Lots of grunting, scrapes and running.
I heard one walk through before daylight today, but didn't see anything after the sun came up. Fog was moving in and out on the north side of Grassy Mtn in Marshall Co. Was hoping to see a biggun slide into view around the hill.
