2 man Ladder Stands - 09/24/23 04:47 PM

Looking to overhaul all my sketchy lock ons and single ladders. I’m seriously looking at the 2 man hawk Denali. I am not looking at bowhunting from these tbh I want comfort for the best price. I know millennium is the top but double the price of the hawk. Any recs will be appreciated.

Have a Hawk Denali double and absolutely love it. No regrets at all.

Some of the 2 man Millennium stands are so comfortable you have to be careful you don’t fall asleep. But they’re expensive.

I've got one of the cheap 2 man Game Winner platform stands from academy (the taller one) and I've been pretty impressed. Seems to be really well made and designed. A bit heavy, but not too bad if you have a couple guys to hang it. Plenty of room

Hawk Big Denali is awesome. Be sure to follow their directions when putting it up. My bud broke one of his ladder sections by not.

I just bought a Rivers Edge 2plex. I liked that it has a 1 piece mesh seat that you can fold up when you leave and it has an adjustable shooting rail. I put it together last weekend but am waiting on some help getting it up in da tree.

They are well made and very comfortable. Mine has been sitting in one place because they are a pain to move. IMHO comfort trumps mobility.

I bought 2 this year as we are going to attempt for my 7 year old to hunt out of them. I got the rivers edge 21' and a big game 17'. Both have full platforms. I will say the rivers edge is built slightly better, but it not near as comfortable as the big game from what ive seen so far. The rivers edge has a bench seat and the big game has individual seats. Both were around $300 stands if i remember correctly. If i was buying more i will stick with big game for comfort and cost. Ive never hunted out of the hawk or millennium, i think they cost a good bit more, i do like my millennium lock ons but did want to pay what the 2 mans cost.

Appreciate the heads up…was gonna jump on a Hawk deal for 270$ but they were out of stock. I had a buddy recommend big game as well. I don’t plan on moving this for years hopefully so mobility is not a factor.

We got some of the Big Game double ladders. I like them but I have found if I take my old Styrofoam hunting seat with me and put it behind my back it greatly helps with comfort.

TIPS QUESTION !!!

I like the 2-man stands for comfort and ability to put my pack or gear right there, instead of being scrunched up with chit hanging off a stand or above-beside me. They're also heavy as chit (or can be) so moving them around isn't a walk in the park.

FOR YOU GUYS who put up stands and leave them, do you each year check and loosen the attaching chains or straps so they don't dig into the tree and bend-warp-screw up the stand?

Do you leave them a little loose to begin with so the tree grows-sways? Do you tighten the chit out of them and let it ride?

Like y'all, I've seen some spooky chit with ladder stands over the years. Warped or sketchy. Chains embedded in trees. Straps that look worn. Safety's always a concern for me.

Also - this is a neat product to help put up a stand if you're by yourself:

This one for me. I do keep a close eye on them and will swap out straps/rope when they start getting weak/sketchy at all. Ratchet straps are cheap. Our stands are in some pretty gnarly places and taking down/putting up over and over would be a huge pita.

I have about 10 2 mans out. I loosen and retighten every year and I use two straps per stand minimum.
Get ones with a solid bottom platform.

The Hawk sale had ended so was back to figuring out what route to go. I ended up going with the millennium L205 which after tax was $330 at safford trading co. I called millennium and they said really the only difference between that and the 220 besides being over 100$ cheaper was that the 220 had a double ladder and needed 2 boxes for shipping. Same seat and platform and all.

Went with the millennium due to the high grade steel they used as it floods every year down there so needed the quality.

We’ve killed a lot of deer out of our 17’ ladder stands with a bow/crossbow.
Good luck.

I have xstand 2 man stands with the jaw lock system. These things are sweet. Very comfortable.

I have had good success with Academy's Game Winner 2-man stands.

Re: 2 man Ladder Stands - 10/16/23 04:19 PM

I would highly recommend a sling type seat. All of the others are nowhere near as comfortable. I prefer Muddy's for the comfort and value. I normally climb all of my ladders about this time of the year and replace ratchet straps as needed (probably every 2-3 years). I have a few that I have added chains and turnbuckles, and they last a lot longer. I try to loosen them up and twist them or move them up or down a bit before they grow into the tree every few years.

Re: 2 man Ladder Stands - 10/16/23 05:09 PM

Update: This millennium is the real deal. Tedious putting together and sucked carrying due to the weight but it’s the best feeling 2 man I’ve ever sat in. High quality product.

Out of the box the Millenium's are great however their paint process and quality of steel have gone to crap to the point that they are simply not worth the money. Their customer service is non existent.
