All day sit worked out

All day sit worked out - 12/24/21 12:53 PM

Had a new buck show up last week on some private land. He was real wide but didn’t have much tine length but looked mature so we decided to try to kill him. Tuesday morning he showed up at 645 and 430 in broad daylight 20 yards from my lock on. I was off work yesterday and the wind was perfect for him so I decided to go sit all day because I knew he would eventually show up and I didn’t want to miss my chance and this warm snap mess him up. I had to wait on a couple does to leave so I got in the stand about 625. At around 9 I heard a buck rubbing on a ridge in front of me about 200 yards away but never saw anything. I sat until 145 not seeing any deer and had to come out and give my back a little break. Got back in the stand a little before 3 and a doe came through right at 3. About 445 I see horns moving through the thicket and grab my bow and get ready. It was a buck with only one rack and a spike. They fed for a few minutes then I heard walking coming off the same ridge that I heard that rubbing on. I look up and I see his rack coming from about 125 yards away. The half rack buck starts walking towards him and they get about 30 yards from each other and both bristle up and the bigger buck snort wheezes and the smaller one decided to walk away. The bigger buck eases his way in to 19 yards under my quartering to just a little. He looks away and I draw put my pin on the center of his shoulder and let it go. It felt good and he went about 40 yards and I saw him fall. Couldn’t be more happy and it was an awesome experience to hear him snort wheeze at the other buck. If someone doesn’t mind posting pictures I’ll send them to you. Merry Christmas!

I've killed many bucks, but it is always fun to see them bristling up or even fighting each other. That is a rare occasion I get to see that.
