Good Weekend for the Boy

My 13-YO son got his first buck this past weekend. And oh boy, is he ruined. Been watching this buck on camera since Christmas (he somehow earned the name George), and after not seeing hardly anything from the stand all year, Ethan was finally in the right place at the right time. He was in the stand 45 minutes when his 308 open up. He sent me the text that George was dead, and I was quickly out of my stand and on the way. What a buck!! A typical 11 point with pretty decent mass. It was an expensive hunt for pops (LOL), but worth every penny watching that boy ride the wave of happiness all weekend long. Likely going to have to hunt a while before he can top this one, but that's just the way it's going to have to be!

My 10 year old and I didn't see a deer on either Friday or Saturday. His lazy butt slept in Sunday morning and I saw 8 does, 3 pigs, and a fine 7 point for him to drop the hammer on. Valuable lesson for the young lad. Can't kill them from the couch.
