I found 3 this past weekend, all small and all in food plots. I found a matching set from a 4 point and then one that had 3 points on the side I found (no brow tine). None were picture worthy. I have found some good ones in the past.

I do , like getting a Christmas surprise when you find a big un. Fun to go to plots one day and there's none then go back next day and there's a surprise.

Re: Shed hunting - 03/05/19 09:09 PM

I found this shed on the right in the picture (deer’s left side) on Friday. I found his opposite side back in September. This is a matching set from the deer pictured below. The trail cam picture is from 10/30/17, but I’ve never seen the buck again since he shed last Spring. We cut a bunch of timber in this area last Summer and I believe it pushed the deer off our property and he hasnt returned. I sure wish he would!!

In general, do yall find that the bigger racked bucks lose theirs first or vise versa. Reason I ask, im seeing several small bucks with horns still but also getting pics of some bucks without.

I scout a lot during February and March. Not looking for sheds specifically. If I find one ill take note of the area it's in but I don't collect them.

Re: Shed hunting - 03/07/19 03:01 PM

Checked my cams yesterday and the majority still have their antlers. Walked both of the plots on the property today and did not find any sheds. I think I will head up there this weekend and throw some corn in the blackberry patch next to the plots and see if that works for finding a few in there. There is one deer on my lease who survived through the season and I would love to find either of his.

I’ve never run shed traps, always been too worried I’d cause Pedicle injuries and ruin some racks

The two in the left are single sides that don’t match. The four sheds furthest right are two matching sets. Found those two sets about 50 yards apart

Our camera's in Barbour and Macon still showing bucks with all headgear attached.... have also seen more sparring on camera recently than was seen, heard, or on camera during hunting season.
