Killed my biggest buck in the snow. Actually the day after it snowed, but snow on the ground and sunny
Hardwoods, Ridge tops, mornings. Killed a doe on 5 DEC 2009 when it snowed a good bit. It was the first deer I took off that particular property and that evening the Tide rolled and made Tebow cry. It was a good day!

Killed a few in it and it's fun. Heavy stuff seams to shut them down a little but what's in store tomorrow should be great.

jb20 the last two times it snowed during deer season, I slept till 7:00, got up, went to the shooting house, and had a good buck dead soon after. It is my experience, around here they ain't gonna move much early, but about 8:00 or so, after the sun gets up good and it gets quiet, they'll get about a little bit.

movement varies wildly, everything to total shutdown to everydamndeermoves, and everything in between those two extremes. I like hunting em in the snow, have killed a couple in it.

January 21st 2008, snow stopped around midday in Sumter county. Around 3:00 shot a 7pt that was cruising thru a green field. Want never forget, same day bronner Burgess drowned and was all over the news.

I love hunting in it, especially being there when it first starts and watching the world turn white. It has seemed to be either feast or famine, like Fred said, as for deer movement in the snow. If I have a chance I'll hunt it.

I didn't hunt last year when it snowed in January but when I checked my camera, I wish I had. 10:32-doe walks in front of my tree stand, 10:34--nice buck follows. Not sure I would have hunted that particular stand that day but had zero chance of killing him from my house.

Hunting and Watching trail cams it seems like the day after a snow results in crazy movement where I see some bruiser bucks that I have never seen before and never saw again. Its almost like they like getting around and seeing all the pretty county.

I killed two near York last year. First one was late afternoon, 190 lb old 5 came onto a green field at about 4:30 when it was snowing like crazy.
Next afternoon, right at dark, big 7 came out on another green field.

Re: Hunting in snow? - 01/29/19 07:19 PM
I went one time in the snow. Dang near killed myself getting to the club and had to winch myself out of a ditch two times that morning. Finally got to the club and slogged through that mess to a stand and killed an 8 point. Had to drag it up the hill to the truck and was a wet muddy mess by the time I did. The hell with that....... it wasn't worth it.
I killed a turkey in Nebraska in the snow a few years ago. As much as I like to end turkeys, I have no desire to do that ever again either.

Deer move in the snow and the interesting thing is, you think they will be quiet. To the contrary I’ve found they hop in 3” snow like it was butt deep or something making p,enty of noise.
