Deer moved really hard overnight according to my cameras. Headed to Tuscaloosa for inlaws Christmas. Some deer outta go down today

Settled on a long planted road bed in Lamar county. Atoler is set up in a hardwood bottom. Sure is nice to have a clear cold morning for a change

My last sit at choccolocco this season with a rifle. I’m on a knoll where 2 creek bottoms come together and and a pine thicket bedding area is behind me. I’ve seen 2 shooters in this area this year. A big buck chased a doe across the road this morning right when I got into the WMA. Tail end of the rut here.

I’m in a ladder stand on a foodplot. I’m mainly here to watch a road through some planted pines that’s got scrapes along the road

Hunting the pretty woods this morning. I shot a nice 8 yesterday evening. Dang thing dropped in it tracks and flopped 3 or four times then got still. so 5 minutes later I start climbing down and it jumps up and takes off . I could see a giant hole around his liver. gonna sit till 9ish then go track em. Yall get a biggun.

Hanging off the side of the mountain need the thermal to kick in the wind is killing me. Gonna have to be a big one to shoot here. As I'm typing the fog is starting to rise..... come on thermals!

I just saw a 6 and 8pt cross a small field.

In Chambers Co. This morning. Sitting on the point of a ridge with two bottums coming together to my left and a nice oak flat and saddle on my right. Mostly an exploratory hunt this morning. Still don't know the new property that well.

Busted a 4-5 yo heavy 8 this morning chasing a doe at 640.

Well praise God. My buddy just texted that his son just busted a doe. His first deer ever. He missed one last year and was tore about about it since then because he’s the only one out of the three hunting buddies sons that hasn’t killed a deer. But now he’s joined the brotherhood. He’s on cloud 9. Shaking, asking for blood on his face, the whole 9 yards. Eli and I are sitting up high on a hardwood flat. Gonna sit a while longer then go join the lucky hunter and post some pics.

My wind shifted. I relocated 50 yards to get downwind of the trail. Starting to think about the Christmas tree cake in me bag.

yep he crossed. no gracefully either. crossed where both banks are steep and 20 yards away its looks like beach on both sides. hopefully he gets bigger and stays dumb.

My rotten luck continues!! My wife’s uncle killed the 9 point I’ve been hunting so hard. I’ve hunted my property (adjoining his property) 7 hunts in the last 7 days to try to see this deer. I’m ready for my luck to change lol

One of the few times I've actually got a bit of cell signal. I'm up in a tree in Black Warrior. Fog has finally lifted, but the wind is kicking up a bit. Praying God will bring something my way. But still enjoying this beautiful morning.

I’ve seen 7 does and yearlings this morning. 6 of those 7 coming in the last half hour.

Only thing I’ve seen is a bobcat. I’ve heard like 12 shots this morning though

No deer for me. Just 3 hen turkeys

22 deer so far. Rut not in full swing in Jackson county. All non antlers and grouped up.

Killed a doe for the freezer this morning.

Saw 5 at oakmulgee 3 does a spike and 4 pt. Spike went under Stephen who was only 6' off the ground. I have no idea how he didn't see him.

You should have shot it and got it mounted. There are some great examples in the cat for sale thread.

Me and the 9 year old didn't see anything this morning on the Greenfield so me and the 15 year old is gonna try the hardwoods. Heard only 1 shot this morning. Good luck to everybody. Congrats to everybody on the kills today

Didn't see anything today at Black Warrior WMA. Heard one shot real close and a decent number further off.

Saw the same 15-20 deer behind the house. Ready for tomorrow, actually get to hunt.

3 of us hunted this evening and no one saw a deer or heard a shot

Ha we do, but the neighbors like watching the deer...and honestly I've enjoyed it, too. Watched 3 bucks fighting in the field, was loads of fun to watch.

We finally had good movement here this afternoon!! I saw a bunch of does/fawns and two small bucks

9 pt. Got him at 4:39pm late today. Sat all day in the stand. 165 lbs. field-dressed. God is good! Very thankful for this buck!!

Haha, I’m fairly certain that “Killer” would tuck tail and haul a$$ at the shot! Thankfully this buck only went 40 yards and piled up close to my stand. 7mm-08 took out both lungs... deer don’t do well without lungs...
