LEVEREVOLUTION??? - 01/16/18 10:42 AM

Any of you 30-30 folks got any experience with the LEVEREVOLUTION bullets? I've never tried them, but the research I've done makes them sound pretty legit!

They won't group for chit out of any lever gun I've seen them shot out of

Shoots good out of my 24" 336xlr. Doesn't shoot real great out of my 16" 336y.

I've had good groups in a 44 Henry with them I got last year. Only shot one deer and one hog with them. 170 pound buck drt and the boar was a complete pass thru double lung with a blood trail Stevie Wonder could follow. For what its worth.

Not me personally, but my uncle shoots them out of his 30/30 with iron sights, I’d hate to guess at how many deer he’s whacked with the lever revolutions in 30/30.

I hand load them for both a Marlin and a Thompson Center carbine in 30-30. Both will shoot a three shot group you can cover with a nickel at 100 yds. Set at 2.5" high at 100, I am 1" low at 200. Haven't shot them yet at 300 to verify what they will do since I feel the energy is getting to low for me by then. I have killed several hogs with them. One last week was shoot at a measured 137 yards and drt. In the Thompson I load them long to fit the chamber and they are actually a little tighter than the lever, but not by much. The leverelvoltion powder is what really makes a different in my opinion. I have also loaded some spritzers using the powder, got excellent results as well. Just can't load them back to back in a lever magazine. FWIW, this has been my experience..

One of my 35 Rems (Marin 336) shot them very well. Except a full tube jammed it up tighter than a bank vault!

If your lever will feed and shoot them well, they are supposed to work great.

I hand load the 265gr FTX in 44 mag. They group pretty good out of my NEF handi rifle and my Ruger Blackhawk. Haven't killed a deer with them yet though.

I don't shoot the factory stuff but I use the ftx bullet in my handloads in my 45-70 and for a short barrel slinging 325gr. bullet it's pretty accurate and my deer tracking got much easier they tend to fall over where they stood or run 10-20yds and fall over. It's more accurate then what I can do free handed here's a picture them at 100yds I was using the sling wrapped on my arm shooting free handed like you would be if you were walking through the woods

I use them in an old 336 30/30 and they group fine at 100. They make a nice big hole on both sides of the deer I’ve shot with them.

Not sure if its just because their older guns but I cannot get them to feed in my 30-30, 35 rem, or 444. They hang up and I have to pry them out every time. Can only use the regular cor-lokt

If you're going to use the LeveRevolution's you have to take the magazine follower out and either replace it with one compatible with the pointed boolits, or, here's what I did on my 1895M in .450 Marlin

- Remove plastic magazine follower, don't let the spring put your eye out
- Acquire cigarette lighter, gently heat the plastic follower to make it pliable
- Take the tip of a LeveRevolution boolit and make an indentation, hold it there long enough to make sure the "dent" stays.

Now your fancy lever gun rounds will feed correctly. I think you can get the special one direct from Marlin.

Just didn't help my with my 18" inch. I stayed with core-lokts. To me anything pass 70 I would prefer a different caliber.

From my 5 shots experience with my father-in-law 30-30....they aren't worth a tinkers damn

Re: LEVEREVOLUTION??? - 01/17/18 07:08 AM

I shoot them in my 336 thats probably 40 years old. I got a Hornady scope from Cabelas about 10 years ago that has the multiple crosshairs on it that correspond with the Leverevloution bullet's ballistics. My gun can shoot roughly 1.5 " groups off a rest at 100yds, which is significantly better than it could do with the old blunt nose bullets. I had one deer I had to shoot multiple times that made me wonder how well the bullet performed but I haven't hunted with it enough to compare.

I tried them in an old 336 30-30 but they just wouldn't group. Any other brand would group nicely. I ended up buying a .308MX Marlin because of my love of the lever gun and the stats on the LR round. I still use the 336 with core lokt's.

my Winchester 94 got about an inch and a half out of them at 100. Was the best group I've seen with this rifle, and that's with a 2moa red dot. so pretty good.
