Another Madison County Buck

I was fortunate enough to take this buck this morning. I had an encounter with him on Jan 6 just an hour or so after daylight. He was making his way up the mountain by himself in some pretty thick stuff and the wind swirled. He turned tail and eased back the way that he came from. Today was my first time back on the mountain since then due to my Mother having surgery early last week. I got settled in before daylight and hadn’t heard or
seen anything until 10:05 am. A hot doe came trotting around the mountain and he was
behind her, nose to ground and grunting every step. She finally stopped about 40 yards or so out in front of me to catch her breath, I assume. Panting heavily. He started to mount her. As soon as he had both front feet off the ground I piled him up right there. DRT. I only have 2 pictures of him and they were on Nov. 20 at 11:27 am.

That deer is better than 170”. He will net well over 170”. His beams curve inward and are almost to his nose when they do, so I think those beams are 26”+. The G2s are better than 12”. He’s got strong G3s and strong G4s. That’s one of, if not the best, typical to be killed this year in AL.

Best part of all of this to me is his little story he posts along with the pics. Very well thought out with all the hallmarks of a classic big buck chase. Even details of time of photos and all. Deer hunting sure drives some people mental.

As far as Punkinhead's ( Matt) big buck, I can vouch for him , straight arrow and he's legit. I know him pretty well and he and my son are very good friends, he's hunted with us. I've seen both live and dead pics of his big buck. It's a fairly clean typical , best I remember it grosses up around 180 and will net well in 160's . Beautiful whitetail! Matt Brock contacted me looking for some top end bucks from our area to borrow and take to a seminar as examples of what comes out of Northeast Bama. Punkin's deer was one I suggested. Matt can verify it's the real deal , deer of a lifetime for the Southeastern US.

If Punkinhead wants a pic posted I can do it if he gets it to me.
